Diese lokalen Beobachtungen können von regionalen Bewegungsrichtungen abweichen, daher ist zur Ableitung regionaler Bewegungsmuster die flächige Verteilung mehrerer Beobachtungen erforderlich. - \nEin Bewegungsrichtungsindikator ist immer mit einer planaren Struktur (z.B. ein sekundäres planares Gefüge oder die Erdoberfläche) als Bezugsebene verknüpft. Wenn der Bewegungsrichtungsindikator nicht selbst eine lineare Struktur (z.B. ein Rundhöcker) ist, so ist prinzipiell eine lineare Struktur (z.B. eine Streckungslineation) als Bezugsachse für eine eindeutige Bestimmung der Bewegungsrichtung anzugeben. - \nGeeignete Bewegungsrichtungsindikatoren erfüllen folgende Kriterien: (1) einigermaßen häufiges Auftreten;
